This FREE training course, led by Margaret Mowles, Chartered Accountant, will look at manual book-keeping systems for all organisations with an opportunity for treasurers to review, update and simplify their existing systems.
It is very important that all employers should know their Staging Date – that is the date when Automatic Enrolment to the Workplace Pension Scheme commences at your workplace.
If you do not know it, it can be easily found – all you need to know in advance is your PAYE reference number, an example of which would be 943/WZ5121A, to be found on any of your correspondence from the Pensions Regulator.
So very sorry to have to begin the new year with bad news, but it is with great sadness that we have to tell you of the loss of our dear friend and colleague Maggie Mallender.
Maggie worked with us at Derby Community Accountancy Service when it first came into being in 2002. During the intervening years she has worked with many charities in Derby and the surrounding area, passing on her considerable knowledge of workable book-keeping procedures with determination and fun!
We will all miss Maggie very much, and extend our condolences to her family, many colleagues and friends.
Her funeral service will be in the Main Chapel at Markeaton Crematorium on Wednesday 13th January 2015 at 12 noon, and all are welcome. The family have asked that any donations in her memory be sent to the RNLI – you can donate online here

Did you know that you can now claim Employment Allowance if you employ a Carer or Support Worker?
From 6 April 2015, employers of care and support workers can claim the Employment Allowance. This means they can reduce their Employer NICs bill by up to £2000 a year, depending on how much Employer NICs they pay. The Employment Allowance is not a grant: it works by reducing the amount of employer NICs you need to pay.

From April 2016, the Employment Allowance will rise from £2,000 to £3,000.
The Employment Allowance give businesses and charities a cut in the employer National Insurance they pay.
This means that, next year, businesses and charities will be able to employ 4 people full time on the National Living Wage and pay no National Insurance at all!
